We are so very proud of Broomwood ‘Old Lodger’ (graduate of 2011) Gus Atkinson for his simply stunning England Test Debut today.
Earlier this year he sent Broomwood pupils and sports teacher Mr Billingham a good luck video for their season and he certainly inspired us to a great one. He is now inspiring not only Broomwood cricketers but the entire country.
Atkinson took two wickets in his first 14 balls on the first morning. In his second spell he took three wickets in four balls in his ninth over, then took two in three in his 11th. His figures were the second best by any England bowler on their Test debut, behind only Dominic Cork.
