The friendly, family feel of Little Broomwood creates an environment where your child will be happy. We believe this is an essential for building important life skills such as independence, sharing, forming friendships, kindness, and listening. Each child has a key member of staff responsible for their individual wellbeing and we have a culture that praises effort and personal achievement.
Outdoor learning is an essential part of the Little Broomwood day. Our children take part in ‘Welly time’, with activities such as den building, tree rubbing, and concocting potions in the mud kitchen. Beyond the fun and adventure, this time also encourages independence and development of fine and gross motor skills.
We take our children on school trips, for example, the library, the woods, and the theatre. We also host external professionals, who provide pre-school sessions in subjects like dance, drama and story-telling. Our Little Broomwood pupils also take part in whole school events including Earth Day, Book Week, and French Day.
‘Looking after children is a collaborative process’
We give parents plenty of opportunity to get involved with Little Broomwood. Whether it is a Christmas show, or a Grandparents’ Garden Party, we welcome families regularly to school. We hold ‘Come and Learn’ and ‘Stay and Play’ sessions where you can find out more about what we do. We also hold formal parents’ evenings to discuss progress and twice a year, every family receives a detailed written report.
